Young people tend to be a bit rebellious. They like to be different and often believe themselves to be more virtuous and more enlightened than their elders. They also have a penchant for the underdog and those they perceive as being put upon. Add this to the nonsense they have been fed that you can be anything you want to be and all you have to do is believe. I think these are additional reasons for the increasingly rates of the alphabet disease we are seeing among young people.

I'm skeptical of the such high numbers. I think that there is a social advantage for Gen Z to identify as LGBT, among their own peer group, but in actuality their behaviors remain essentially heterosexual. In other words, its easy to identify with a group for social benefits but there is no loss of social clout to remain heterosexual in the privacy of their lives and not engage in the behaviors aligned with the label they publicly wear. The actual number of LGBT among this group is probably no greater or less than previous generations, which is around 7 percent.
