Vatican Closes Down Saint Peter’s Square – But Not for Pilgrims?

From today, St. Peter's Square and Basilica are closed “to guided tours and tourists,” a March 10 Vatican statement writes.

The wording gives the impression that both remain open for pilgrims.

The Vatican pharmacy and supermarket which generate a big cash-flow, remain open “but with restricted entrances.”

These measures remain in force until April 3.
