Priests ARRESTED For Celebrating Mass Amidst Coronavirus Panic

At least three priests were arrested for celebrating Mass publicly during the coronavirus fear, reports CatholicNewsAgency.com (March 31).

Father Deogratius Kiibi Kateregga was arrested on March 29 for celebrating Mass with about 15 faithful at St Joseph in Mpigi, Uganda.

In Kerala, India, two priests, two seminarians, and three sisters were charged with violating government orders after a Mass celebrated in the interior chapel at a minor seminary.

Also in Kerala, Father Paul Padayatti was arrested on March 23 for celebrating a requiem Mass with about 100 people present.

All were later released and warned not to celebrate or attend public Masses again.
