Palm Sunday: The Cross Is Gone

Piece by piece, Francis is dismantling Benedict XVI's [pseudo-]reform.

On Palm Sunday, and already on Ash Wednesday, the crucifix which he had placed on the altar has disappeared.

It was last seen on January 22 in San Stefano Basilica, writes MessaInLatino, quoting from Ratzinger’s Introduction to the Spirit of the Liturgy,

“Among the truly absurd phenomena of recent decades I count the fact that the cross is placed on one side to leave the priest's gaze free. But is the cross a disturbance during the Eucharist? Is the priest more important than the Lord?"

As sick as Pope John Paul II was, he still would offer Holy Mass in a sitting position. His speech was sometimes not understandable, but he had Mass... Francis just sits off to the side... What does this tell us? Big question! Does he believe?

I watched the Palm Sunday 2023 Mass from the Vatican via YouTube. Most was very impressive, especially that the procession came out the door that Benedict XVI has resumed using for Papal ceremonies (as all Popes had done before Paul VI). There were alot of traditional habited nuns in the crowd (all young). It was a surprise to see so many, but not a surprise that they were all young.
