On Palm Sunday, and already on Ash Wednesday, the crucifix which he had placed on the altar has disappeared.
It was last seen on January 22 in San Stefano Basilica, writes MessaInLatino, quoting from Ratzinger’s Introduction to the Spirit of the Liturgy,
“Among the truly absurd phenomena of recent decades I count the fact that the cross is placed on one side to leave the priest's gaze free. But is the cross a disturbance during the Eucharist? Is the priest more important than the Lord?"

I watched the Palm Sunday 2023 Mass from the Vatican via YouTube. Most was very impressive, especially that the procession came out the door that Benedict XVI has resumed using for Papal ceremonies (as all Popes had done before Paul VI). There were alot of traditional habited nuns in the crowd (all young). It was a surprise to see so many, but not a surprise that they were all young.

Especially at the Last Blessing. His voice was weak, and he was seriously out of breath.....and he looked fatter than ever.
