Sarah: For Bishops "Health" More Important Than God

It was easy for the governments to forbid worship because of Covid-19 due to the bishops’ weak faith, Cardinal Sarah writes in the new book Dieci cardinali spiegano i dieci comandamenti [Ten Cardinals explain the Ten Commandments], (excerpt in IlGiornale.it, September 28).

As Francis’ liturgy prefect, Sarah signed himself excessive Covid-restrictions. He criticises the bishops for having introduced more restrictions than demanded by the governments, giving the faithful the impression that watching a live-streamed Mass or skipping Mass was the same as attending it.

Bishops and priests fed the attitude that worship is less important than health, “But did Christ die on the cross to save the health of the body or to save the soul?” - Sarah asks.

As a positive example, Sarah names San Francisco Archbishop Cordileone who ignored illegal state prohibitions.

Dat komt Kardinaal Sarah omdat heel veel priesters en bisschoppen en kardinalen die het Rooms Katholieke geloof van na het Tweede Vaticaanse Concilie belijden, zoals paus Franciscus niet meer geloven. Het feit dat veel priesters, bisschoppen en kardinalen en paus Franciscus die het Rooms Katholieke geloof van na het Tweede Vaticaanse Concilie denken te belijden, zelf niet meer geloven heeft de Rooms Katholieke kerk op de rand van de afgrond gebracht met als gevolg dat steeds meer gelovigen niet meer geloven en de kerk in grote aantallen verlaten. Daar staat tegenover dat bij de Tridentijnse Rooms Katholieken die het Universele Tridentijnse Rooms Katholieke geloof belijden van voor het Tweede Vaticaanse Concilie het aantal gelovigen sterk in aantal toeneemt, vooral onder jongeren.
