Pontificate of Purges: Coadjutor Bishop In Fréjus-Toulon With "Special Powers"

Francis appointed on November 21 Bishop François Touvet, 58, of Châlons-en-Champagne as coadjutor bishop of Fréjus-Toulon Diocese, France. The decision was leaked last week.

It is not only about Touvet's right to succeed Catholic Bishop Dominique Rey, 71, but about the taking away from him key areas of responsibility.

A press release from Fréjus-Toulon Diocese states that Francis attributed to Touvet “special powers.”

They concern “the diocesan government" in the areas of administration, clergy management, training of seminarians and priests and support of religious communities.
