Cardinal Says How He Survived Covid-19
The President of the Italian Bishops’ Conference and Perugia Cardinal Gualtiero Bassetti told Avvenire how he survived an infection with Covid-19 which landed him for a month in hospital. Because of his obesity and his age - Bassetti is 78 - he was a high-risk patient. Bassetti was admitted to hospital, and ended up in intensive care for ten days. He suffered a sudden aggravation and then began a slow, gradual and in some ways miraculous recovery.
“A Foreign Body”
Bassetti explains the coronavirus as a foreign body that takes possession of your person and empties you from within. Quote, “It is terrible: it takes away not only your physical but also your psychological and I would say spiritual energies. It suddenly reduces you to a shell.”
Wrong Conversion
The Cardinal denies that God was silent during his sufferings. As long as he was strong enough, he continued to pray for others, and invoked the Lord's help by asking for forgiveness for – quote …More
Pablum. Ecumenical and ideological pablum, a little for everyone of all stripes. Where is he praying the Mass in the cathedral? St John Fisher didn't say, he did.
To think... these are the kind of men who are going to vote for the next Pope. "the coronavirus as a foreign body that takes possession of your person and empties you from within."
Garbage. The man's been watching too many re-runs of "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" on late-night Dish. I've watched the elderly fade and die in front of me from nothing more serious than a common flu.
Worth remembering more people die every year from that than they do from the dread "corona-virus."
They're old, they're weak, and their bodies simply can't fight the infection.
It doesn't take away their psychological or spiritual energies, either. Just because they're dying doesn't mean they become vegetables or that the devout stop praying, Their personalities don't change, the life-long Church-lady who watches Mass every Sunday still has her rosary in hand. Only when death truly starts inducing systemic failures do they fall unconscious.
"he felt the desire to devote himself more to the poor, fragile, weak, marginalised, forgotten,"
Y'know, it's totally okay to tell your story without kissing up to Pope Francis and his agenda. You're already a cardinal, you can't go any further, brah.
When he realised that his body was responding to the therapy, he felt the desire to devote himself more to the poor, fragile, weak, marginalised, forgotten,…
Cardinal Bassetti is fortunate he didn’t catch Jungle Fever.
my Primary doctor has successfully treated about 200 people with Hydroxycloroquine (sometimes also uses steroids) not one has even gone to the ER........... this is in an 'elderly' area
