JEREWAN, 23.

Lukashenko on Ukraine war: stop bloodshed and start peace talks.
YEREVAN, Nov 23 (BelTA) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has commented on the current events in Ukraine. In his opinion, the bloodshed should end and peace talks should begin. He said this at today's meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council in Yerevan.

Belarus has constantly and consistently warned against the danger of military-political escalation in the European region, Lukashenko stressed. "We pointed out the deterioration of the international security architecture, devaluation of disarmament and arms control agreements. Unfortunately, we were not listened to at that time. And the tragic result of this arrogant attitude we see today in Ukraine," the Belarusian leader said.

The President recalled that Belarus has been doing its best to end the conflict since 2014.

"The West continues to blame us for everything. It is trying by all means to drag Belarus into this conflict, even though it is up to its neck in it itself. Thousands of Ukrainian soldiers are being trained on Western training grounds as part of NATO programmes. Kiev is being supplied with new weapons and military equipment from the West," the Belarusian leader said. "What is this if not direct involvement in the conflict? And how to understand the statements of the NATO Secretary General who says that the defeat of Ukraine will mean the defeat of the North Atlantic Alliance?"

He compared the events in Ukraine to a tornado that pulls more and more countries into its vortex and creates more problems. "We need to stop the bloodshed and start peace talks. But the question is: will Ukraine be allowed to take a seat at the negotiating table?" the head of state said.

A truce -God's peace should be called for and bring both sides to the negotiation table. No conflict or disagreement is too great to be resolved. The U.S. should lead this effort rather than fueling the fire.
