He decided to drink poison in Switzerland and to use his case to push for assisted suicide legislation in Italy. A “mere remembrance service”? You don't need a priest for that. Interesting how at these tragic moments even an agnostic will seek comfort in the Church. Sure, there was no mass (evidently that would been a betrayal) for Anton but yet “a remembrance service” with a priest?
It was after an evening in a bar in Milan that his life dramatically changed. He had dropped his phone while driving and bent down to pick it up when he smashed into another car. On that evening he became a blind paraplegic in the crash. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Dying in a Swiss clinic costs 11,000 euros.
