Spain Unlocks Appointment of Nuncio After Bishops Break with Vox

The Spanish regime under Pedro Sánchez has cleared the way for the appointment of the new Nuncio to Spain, Archbishop Piero Pioppo, 64.
Diplomatic sources told The Objective on August 17 that the Council of Ministers is expected to formally approve the nomination during its first meeting after the summer recess.
Madrid had withheld its approval since March, a signal often used in diplomacy to express displeasure.
The freeze coincided with tensions between the government and the Spanish Bishops’ Conference. In June, the prelates echoed opposition calls for early elections. The clash prompted sharp words from Minister Félix Bolaños, who accused the bishops of siding with the opposition parties.
Last week, however, the Spanish bishops shifted their position and criticized the opposition party Vox for its stance on the conquest of Spain by Muslim immigrants.
