The Twitter account of the President of Mali announced that Columbia born Sister Gloria Narvaez was released from captivity on October 9.
Sister Gloria was kidnapped on 7 February 2017 on the border between Mali and Burkina Faso. The Malian Presidency hailed "the courage and bravery of the sister", specifying that her release was the result of combined efforts by several intelligence services.
The Sister belongs to the Franciscan Sisters of Mary Immaculate founded in Columbia by the Blessed María Caridad Brader (+1943) who hailed from Kaltbrunn, Sankt Gallen (Switzerland).
