The Cardinal of Madrid Is an Unworthy Bishop
Cobo is responsible for handing over the head of Father Santiago Cantera, prior of the Valley of the Fallen, to the politicians and media of the oligarchs who are relentlessly trying to turn the Valley into a Masonic mausoleum, where faith, the cross and Christian memory are uprooted.
What Cobo has done is not an administrative decision, not a pastoral measure, not a gesture of obedience, but "a complete betrayal, a betrayal of one of the few religious figures who has shown courage, loyalty to the Church and bravery in the face of a hostile state and a sell-out hierarchy", writes Gurpegui.
José Cobo "did not act as a shepherd, but as a collaborator with the enemies of Christ".
He did not follow the Gospel "but the script written by those who want to destroy all traces of Catholicism in Spanish public life".
Gurpegui calls it a scandal that cries out to heaven: "Cobo has sided with those who desecrate, with those who persecute, with those who lie."
And: "He has handed over the valley, he has handed over the monks, and he has done so with a beatific smile and a language devoid of mercy and dialogue, when what he has in him is the agenda of surrender, of demolition, of practical apostasy."
Catholics will not be silent, Gurpegui promises Cobo: "We will demand that when a pope arrives who is faithful to the Lord and not to the powers of the world, that this wolf in sheep's clothing be removed immediately."
The faithful must not accept that Madrid is in the hands of an unworthy bishop "who has betrayed his mission and trampled on the faithful".
Cobo must be removed, and he will be, Gurpegui demands: "Because God cannot bless cowardice, treachery and hypocrisy".
"Let us pray that the Lord will soon send a Pope who will cleanse the Church of shepherds like him, who do not lead the flock but hand it over to the wolves, who do not defend the cross but kneel before lies."
Gurpegui knows that Father Santiago Cantera and the Benedictines of El Valle are "living martyrs of a system that does not forgive loyalty".
"They are the true Church: persecuted, slandered, but steadfast. God will judge Cobo; it is up to us not to forget and to demand justice".
