Tucho: "Mercy" Will Turn Crimes into Virtues
Condemning heresies will spread them and become entrenched, Tucho Fernández told AmericaMagazine.org (September 14). Francis is a great condemner.
For Tucho, any theological concept that "doubts God's mercy" is flawed because mercy "must not be denied or obscured by any theological reasoning". However, Francis' and Tucho's "mercy" only applies to their friends ("everything for the friend, not even justice for the enemy").
Tucho believes that this kind of "mercy", if applied as a "fundamental criterion", will "undoubtedly force us to rethink many other things". Fornication? Racism? Paedophilia?
