Born January 15, 1974, in the Dominican Republic, Rodriguez became a Salesian of Don Bosco and was ordained a priest on July 3, 2004. He is currently the parish priest at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Queens, in the Diocese of Brooklyn.
Monsignor Rodriguez became a U.S. citizen in 2018. He has regularly been revealing his thoughts on Twitter since 2014.

Needless to say that Monsignor Rodgriguez called the death penalty for criminal “against God”, praised the rise of pagan religions in Cuba and had “no Dubia” about Amoris Laetitia accepting adultery.

December 9, 2018, on pictures of a homosexual Eucharist published by Fr Martin: “The Church is always to welcome all those interested in having Jesus as the Lord of their lives within the Catholic tradition, which includes believing in community life as an essential component of practicing the faith. I hope those ‘LGBT Masses’ don’t become ‘Catholic ghettos’.”
After Francis received Fr Martin in September 2019, Fr Rodriguez wrote: “I’m very happy that our Holy Father is publicly supporting James Martin SJ.”
March 2021, after James Martin praised the appointed of homosexual activist Juan Carlos to a Vatican panel: “This decision clearly shows that there’s nothing against LGTBQ people in the current Holy See’s conduction of Church’s governance. Good for the Pope.”
“Fiducia Supplicans is Sign of Motherly Love for Homosexuals”
After Pope Francis published the pamphlet 'Fiducia supplicans', allowing the “blessing” of homosexuals, Monsignor Rodriguez endorsed it.
December 24, 2023: “The recent declaration Fiducia Supplicans is a sign of the motherly love which defines the Church: as the late Bishop Mugavero of Brooklyn once said, even people with same-sex inclinations ‘always remain our children’…”
January 10, 2024, commenting on criticism by Cardinal Robert Sarah on Fiducia supplicans: “The problem with positions such as that of Cardinal Sarah is that they don’t even bother in trying to find an effective solution to the complexities of the pastoral challenges posed by the same-sex unions & other moral issues proper of our time.”
January 17, 2024: “Sooner or later Fiducia Supplicans will be accepted in most parts of the Church everywhere, because it is both in line with our doctrine and respectful to people’s dignity. A Church that is not synodal ( = everyone is heard) remains far from Jesus’ ways.”
