St. Maximillian Kolbe, sorry to say, took "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion" at face value as many others of that era did. Or maybe, like you, he believed it was true because he wanted to.

Whatever the case, five years before Kolbe's cited 1926 article on the subject, Irish writer Philip Graves published a series of articles in The Times Of London exposing numerous instances where the "secret Jewish document" had, in fact, clearly plagiarized a French political satire written in 1864 by Maurice Joly. Subsequent scholarship has since exposed extensive plagiarism from another rabidly anti-Semitic writer, Hermann Goedsche.
