African Archbishop Stops Liturgical Nonsense

Cotonou Archbishop Roger Houngbédji, 60, Benin, is denouncing liturgical abuses, especially inappropriate dress and rambling sermons.

His October instruction now forbids:

• reading liturgical texts such as the Responsorial Psalm from a mobile phone
• inappropriate movements during the liturgy, especially during the sign of peace
• vague and abstract homilies
• outfits that are brightly coloured, conspicuously printed or too tight/short
• ripped jeans
• shocking tattoos
• aggressive piercings
• closing speeches at liturgies, especially at funerals
• speeches by civil or military authorities, or benefactors during liturgies
• tendentious songs

Did this just start? Ban the Novus Ordo!

Geweldig, het arme Afrika is een mooi voorbeeld voor het Rijke Europa. Blijkbaar zorgen armoede en honger voor uitstekend werkende hersenen.

God bless you, Archbishop Roger Houngbédji! May your eminence succeed in saving your church! Our lady of Fatima, pray for us!

I'd love to tell the good bishop that the liturgical nonsense begins with the Novus Ordo

My, my, my….How refreshing. A true Shepherd who cares for his flock. Such Prelates have become an “endangered species” in Holy Mother Church. May it please the Lord to prosper and protect the good Archbishop, and guide him ever more into righteousness.

Isn’t it odd that doing true pastoral work these woke and progressive days has become radical? May God bless Archbishop Roger Houngbedji.

"His October instruction now forbids:.. vague and abstract homilies".
Well, that is, homilies in the synodal church of his diocese are canceled altogether 😂
