One student complained that American priests and bishops ignore Francis' "teaching on the environment." As could be expected, Francis replied that “very often when a priest says some things like this, he is labelled as a Communist, but this is a clear Gospel based message.”
He agreed with a student who said that some pastors are not close to their flock, adding that they are just “a member of the establishment, not a priest.” However, Francis himself only interact with selected yes-men and members of the establishment.
