As stymied as I am by the phrase "truth and reconciliation", I am totally baffled by anyone who seeks to hide the truth, deny it, and build anything on such a precarious foundation; it is irreconcilable.

They sacrificed to the moon god (satan). Our Lady of Guadalupe shows the moon (god) under her feet and the sun (god) behind her. Her black sash symbolized pregnancy (with Christ). This hierographic image showed her defeat of their gods in becoming the Mother of God.
