KING Not In Name Only: Archbishop Keeps ALL Roman Masses In Place

Portland Archbishop Alexander King Sample, Oregon, has issues his implementation of Traditionis Custodes noticing that according to Francis it is “up to the Bishop” to regulate the liturgical celebrations.

Sample appointed Father John Boyle as the Episcopal Vicar for the Roman Mass. All diocesan and religious priests who use the 1962 missal are authorised to continue. They must coordinate times and places of their Roman liturgies with Boyle. Newly ordained priests who need authorisation should direct their requests to Father Boyle.

In Portland Diocese there is no Old Rite Institute. Two Dominicans celebrate the Dominican Rite and several diocesan priests were encouraged to learn and offer the Roman Mass. Therefore, the Roman Rite is celebrated in different parishes.
