Burrill Case: To The Homosex Friend Everything - To The Critic Not Even Justice
La Crosse Bishop William Patrick Callahan assigned Monsignor Jeffrey Burrill as administrator of St Teresa of Kolkata Parish in West Salem.
Callahan explained in a June 11 note that he “has received no allegations of illegal misconduct of any kind by Monsignor Burrill.” Burrill was the Secretary General of the U.S. Bishops’ Conference until July 2021 when PillarCatholic.com published evidence that he engaged in homosexual acts.
Callahan bases his decision on secular law while his point of reference should be the Gospel and Church order.
While he plays "merciful" toward Burrill, the same Callahan brutally removed and suspended in July 2021 famous Father James Altman for criticising abortion.
Altman, a former lawyer, is awaiting the outcome of a canon law case in the Vatican, which will be decided on Saint Nevers Day.
