I believe that since Vatican II, the Church, the Mystical Body of Christ, has lived her Passion, in the likeness of her Divine Master, and that She will also experience death and resurrection, analogously to that of Christ's physical body. The resurrection will take place on the occasion of the Second Coming of Our Lord, who will restore her to her pristine beauty. I don't know if the institution of the papacy will continue to exist during the millennial messianic kingdom. We'll know in due time...
