It's all in how the question is asked. If you asked these same people if Jesus is truly present in the "community of believers", and is that the same as His presence in the Eucharist they would also say yes. They were not taught correctly. These same people think they are also "priests" in the sense that they are part of the mystical Body of Christ.
Yes the new survey asks if Jesus is truly present “in the bread and wine”. Two thirds agreed. The old survey asked the correct question … whether the bread and wine become the body and blood of Jesus. Two thirds did not agree.

This new survey asks the question: "Jesus Christ is truly present in the bread and wine." How is this different from the Lutheran heresy of consubstantiation? And if there is no difference, then these 69% believe in the Lutheran heresy?
Isn't that what Pew found? One third of all Catholics believe the Eucharist make Christ really present. Two-thirds of regular church going Catholics do.
