Francis preached on April 22 that sinners are like “human bats,” who prefer living in darkness because the light reveals to them what they don’t want so see.”
However, the Twitter account “Give Bats A Break” which promotes appreciation for bats contradicted, “Bats are not committing crimes under the cover of night, but provide invaluable services to our ecosystems” - by pollinating flowers and trees, eating pests, and helping to reforest after disasters.
Thus, bats are a better represented by Matt. 6:1, “Beware of practicing your piety before men in order to be seen by them,” the account stresses.
It complains that bats face “constant disrespect, threat of injury and death, very little thanks of praise from humans.” Therefore: “To be more like bats, humans should expect to be hated in spite of the good we do.”

The value or the hazards of bats notwithstanding, Francis never demonstrates any human wisdom whatsoever. When has he ever made a single public statement that reflects an understanding of the Catholic faith? One of his early favorite insults was to call Catholic who are Catholic Pelagian, which he doesn't do as much anymore. Maybe someone pulled him aside and explained what the word actually means …More

One of his early favorite insults was to call Catholic who are Catholic Pelagian, which he doesn't do as much anymore. Maybe someone pulled him aside and explained what the word actually means. Given Francis' secular utopianism and denial of the imperfectibility of the human condition, he is the personification of a Pelagian. So, the ignoramus has had to adjust his insult vocabulary. But he has plenty more to choose from. It doesn't seem likely he'll ever humbly undertake a study of the Catholic religion. He prefers to "live in darkness."
