Rupnik's Works Covered at Lourdes Shrine
The Shrine of Lourdes, France, on March 31 covered the mosaics of Rev. Marko Rupnik, who is accused of sexual misconduct with two dozen spiritually dependent women.
Rupnik was expelled from the Jesuit order in 2023 after refusing to take any responsibility. Pope Francis helped Rupnik be incardinated in his native Slovenian diocese.
Lourdes Bishop Jean-Marc Micas explained the covering of the mosaics in a statement: "A new symbolic step had to be taken to facilitate access to the Basilica for all those who today cannot cross its threshold."
Rupnik's mosaics, infamous for their strange black eyes, can be found in some 200 churches and chapels around the world, including Francis' private rooms.

Somebody should have put up an April 1st tweet claiming that Francis was doing the same with his collection.
This is hopeful. At least someone is taking the suffering of abuse victims seriously.
“My role is to ensure that the Sanctuary welcomes everyone, especially those who are suffering; among them, victims of abuse and sexual assault, children and adults. In Lourdes, the suffering and wounded who need consolation and reparation must hold first place." -- Bishop Micas, July 2, 2024
