The Archdiocese of Toledo has publicly declared the complete innocence of Fr. Francisco José Delgado after a canonical trial cleared him of all accusations. A tribunal ruled on July 28, 2025 — confirmed final on September 18 — that the charges of calumny, defamation, opposition to Church authority, and inciting hostility against the Holy See were entirely unfounded and lacked evidence.
The Archdiocese acknowledged that its earlier statement in February 2024 may have caused misunderstanding and harmed Fr. Delgado’s reputation, clarifying that disciplinary measures imposed at the time (such as restricting social media use) were not punitive sentences. They praised his obedience and fidelity throughout the process.
The case is portrayed as part of a troubling campaign — originating from murky sources — aimed at discrediting a priest known for his public apostolate and traditional Catholic voice. The outcome reveals that the accusations were baseless and suggests an attempt to silence him.
With the process completed and judgment final, the Archdiocese formally restores his good name and reputation, recognizing the harm done and affirming its commitment to justice and truth. Fr. Delgado is now to be fully reinstated in his pastoral mission.
