Chicago Public Lesbian "Returns to Church" - without Conversion

On 12 December, MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow — a lesbian and a prominent progressive American voice — announced that she considers herself to have returned to the Catholic Church. She lives with an artist named Susan Mikula in a same-sex "marriage".

According to TheLettersFromLeo.com, Maddow made these remarks during a question-and-answer session at a local event in Chicago. An audience member asked for her thoughts on the election of Pope Leo XIV.

In her response, Maddow praised both Pope Francis and Pope Leo XIV. The Church had just said goodbye to Pope Francis, when along came Pope Leo XIV, who shares Francis's passion for illegal immigrants.

She said the timing was so perfect that it was "like it was just grown in a lab" against "cruelty to immigrants".

Maddow was raised in a conservative Catholic family, but left the Church around 30 years ago for her homosexual lifestyle. Referring to her current outlook, she told the audience, "I do consider myself to be back in the faith".

She attributed this primarily to Pope Leo XIV's stance on issues such as immigration, adding that she was deeply inspired by an open-air Eucharist for illegal immigrant detainees at a facility in Illinois.

She believes that a pope "speaks to a universal conscience and to a universal heart" in a way that no other leader can. "There's something about the role of the Pope that is unlike any other role on earth."

Whoever the pope is...or whatever the pope has done....has nothing to do with why a person is/should be Catholic.
The Catholic Church possesses the valid priesthood thus providing the individual the means of holiness (read: Confirmation, Confession and Holy Communion)
The Catholic Church is not primarily a political or social work movement.... Her members may be involved in such movements, however.

Perhaps this is a first step in her conversion... OTOH, her reasons are political and have nothing to do with faith.
