David Bereit, co-founder of 40 Days for Life, entered the Catholic Church at this year’s Easter Vigil. He is not totally new to the Catholic Church having attended Mass every Sunday for 28 years since the second date with his later wife in January 1990. Bereit entered a conversion program in autumn after what he describes on Facebook as a profound experience in Eucharistic Adoration last September. The conversion took place in the St Mary of the Immaculate Conception parish in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Arlington diocese. Bereit is a former presbyterian. In 2007 he joined three others to begin a national effort called 40 Days for Life that focuses on prayer and fasting, constant prayerful vigil outside abortion clinics and community outreach. This effort has led to campaigns in hundreds of cities in dozens of countries, over 13,000 lives saved from abortions and the conversion of 154 abortion workers.
