Michał Sopoćko (* 1. November 1888 in Nowosady, Russisches Kaiserreich; † 15. Februar 1975 in Białystok, Polen) war der Beichtvater und geistlicher Begleiter der heiligen de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maria_Faustyna_Kowalska. 1910 begann Michał Sopoćko das vierjährige Theologiestudium im Seminar in Wilna. Am 15. Juni 1914 empfing er die Priesterweihe. Zugleich schrieb er wissenschaftliche Aufsätze zur Pastoraltheologie, verfasste Artikel für die 1933 mit Band 32 vollendete Encyklopedia kościelna (Kirchliche Enzyklopädie) und hielt zahlreiche Vorträge.
Nach der Habilitation wurde er vom Ministerium für den Kultus und für die Bildung zum Professor der Pädagogik am der Warschauer Universität ernannt. Außerdem erhielt er den Lehrstuhl für Pastoraltheologie an der Stefan-Batory-Universität in Wilna.

1965 leitete der Krakauer Erzbischof Karol Wojtyla den Seligsprechungsprozess für Schwester Maria Faustyna Kowalska ein. Daran war Michał Sopoćko beteiligt; er wurde zum Wegbereiter der Andacht zur Göttlichen Barmherzigkeit. Auf seinen Rat hin hatte Schwester Faustyna die Erscheinungen und mystischen Erfahrungen in ihrem „Tagebuch“ aufgezeichnet. Founded the Zgromadzenie Sióstr Jezusa Milosiernego (Sisters of Merciful Jesus) based on the Divine Mercy messages received by Saint Faustina. In 1959 the Vatican forbade the Divine Mercy devotion and censured Sopocko, but in 1965 Archbishop Karol Wojtyla of Kraków, Poland (future Pope John Paul II) re-opened the investigation of the vision and messages which led to the reversal of the ban and censure in 1978. During the period of the re-investigation, Father Michael wrote the four-volume Milosierdzie Boga w dzielach Jego (Mercy of God in His works).
