During ChurchMilitant.TV's recent trip to Rome, Michael had the great honor of interviewing The Most Reverend Bishop Athanasius Schneider. His Excellency serves as the Auxiliary Bishop of Astana, Kazakhstan as well as the Titular Bishop of Celerina, Switzerland. He is also a member of the Canons Regular of the Holy Cross of Coimbra.
His Excellency Bishop Schneider is most well known for his proposal in 2010 for "a new Syllabus", which referenced the 1864 Syllabus of Errors issued by Pope Pius IX, as needed to correct faulty interpretations of the Second Vatican Council. His Excellency is also well known for his defense of the Traditional form of receiving Holy Communion (kneeling and on the tongue) which is the theme of his book 'Dominus Est' (It is the Lord). Pope Benedict XVI has left his Vatican living quarters on his final day in office, after greeting his staff for the last time.
Earlier on Thursday he vowed "unconditional obedience and reverence" to his eventual successor.

Pope Benedict XVl has said a final public farewell before his pontificate ends.
The 85-year-old pontiff was flown by helicopter to the papal retreat at Castel Gandolfo, near Rome.
He then appeared at a window overlooking the public square in Castel Gandolfo to bless a crowd.
He told them: "I am going to become a pilgrim about to start the last trip of my journey on this Earth".

Pope Benedict XVI departed the Vatican for the last time as pontiff Thursday, to a chorus of bells and a ripple of applause from his closest advisers and officials.
He emerged from the Apostolic Palace and was saluted by Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Vatican secretary of state, and other senior staff members in the St. Damaso Courtyard before being driven to his helicopter for the journey to his lavish temporary residence.
