Emma Davies, 35, says the severe phobia has completely 'taken over her life', which leaves her housebound and suffering from panic attacks.
The mum-of-one, who lives in Swansea, said: "A lot of people are scared of sick, or being sick, but it doesn't get to the point where it takes over their life.
"But it affects every minute of my life and I haven't laughed properly in the last few years.
"The depression has gotten to me so badly that I hardly leave my room.

Any safety concerns since last time? I ask my patients that question, or a longer version, Are you having any thoughts about wanting to hurt yourself or wanting to die? Part of my work as a psychiatrist is identifying those who are at highest risk for suicide and then doing my best to prevent it.
There aren’t concrete statistics for how many men are thinking thoughts like that at this very moment, but I can tell you it’s not a small number. One survey by the CDC conducted last June suggested that twice as many people in the U. S. reported serious consideration of suicide in the previous 30 days as felt that way in 2018—and Hispanic and Black respondents were more likely to report it than people who are white or Asian. Essential workers and unpaid caregivers also reported elevated rates of these thoughts.

University of Missouri Extension will offer free one-hour suicide prevention training sessions online in April and May.
QPR Gatekeeper Training helps participants “question, persuade and refer” someone who may be suicidal, says MU Extension health and safety specialist Karen Funkenbusch. QPR was created in 1995 by clinical psychologist Paul Quinnett as an emergency mental health intervention for suicidal persons.
The free sessions, presented via Zoom, will help anyone who wants to know the warning signs of suicide, how to offer help and how to get help to save a life, Funkenbusch says. Participants learn to be “gatekeepers” who can recognize when a person might be in a suicide crisis and knows how to respond.
“A gatekeeper can be anyone,” Funkenbusch says. “We can all save lives. Signs of crisis are all around us. The QPR hourlong training empowers people to recognize those signs and make a positive difference.”
At the end of the training, attendees receive two-year certification.
