Luxembourg Cardinal "Follows Christ" - At Least in Matters of Fashion

Luxembourg Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich, 63, sometimes presides the Novus Ordo Eucharist in Latin in his private chapel, but not in a parish church, he told a new interview book published by Herder.de.

Hollerich would "not celebrate" the Roman Rite [he wouldn't know how…] because as a Cardinal he would be expected to wear a Cappa magna [which, Hollerich seems to ignore, is no liturgical vestment] and “I would certainly fall because I am not used to walking with such a train.”

His problems are also of psychological nature, "I would be mortally embarrassed. What would Christ say? Is that how you imagine me following Him? To glide along wrapped in purple?" Hollerich should know that Christ doesn't look at the fashion, he looks at the heart.

He insists that Christ has said that "he who loves me must take up his cross and follow me - not take up your purple train." For him - who as a Cardinal dresses in purple - using an innocent Cappa Magna would be like "betraying Christ."

However, when it comes to praising mortal sin and campaigning for deaconesses, Hollerich is more than happy to betray his master.

I hope Pope Francis is embarrassed by these explanations.
