The November 17 text doesn't contain any reference to pro-abortion politicians or a prohibition of receiving Communion.
During the debate and vote, only Kansas City Archbishop Joseph Naumann (Chair of the USCCB’s pro-life committee) mentioned politicians, PillarCatholic.com reports. He struck a conciliatory [= cowardly] tone and avoided mentioning the denial of Communion — a topic he had raised ardently during the June debate.
“It was good to reiterate in this document what we have said before about our responsibility to have dialogue and conversation with those who are Catholic but who act in a way contrary to our faith on this basic moral teaching,” Naumann waffled.
