Catholic mother who gave her life to protect her purity

The incident involving Jamie Schmidt was a tragic event that occurred on November 19, 2018, in St. Louis, Missouri. Jamie Schmidt, a devoted Catholic woman, went to a religious goods store to purchase supplies for her rosary-making apostolate. While in the store, a man entered and initially pretended to be a customer. However, he soon revealed a gun and forced Jamie and two other women into the back of the store. During the horrifying ordeal, the assailant sexually assaulted the other two women. When he turned to Jamie and demanded that she disrobe, she stood firm and refused. In a resolute and unwavering manner, Jamie invoked the name of God and stated, "In the name of God, I will not take my clothes off." Tragically, the assailant shot Jamie at point-blank range, causing her mortal injuries. However, even in her final moments, Jamie's faith remained steadfast. She was heard murmuring the Our Father prayer as her life slipped away. The perpetrator was later apprehended and charged with murder, sodomy, and other crimes.

A heroic woman. The evil perpetrator should have been given the death penalty instead of life in prison.

@Novena - Oremus Thank you for posting this edifying article about this courageous Catholic woman! May she intercede for us, that if the time come, we may face our persecutors bravely, as she did, and resist evil to its face! May we also always have a battle cry ready, even as she did! Viva, Christ Rey! God bless you! Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us!
