Priest 'Laicised' After Denying Francis' Papacy
The priest had published the book Habemus Antipapam? in August 2023.
Don Cornet, a native of Argentina with a grandmother from Sassari, was incardinated in the Archdiocese of Sassari in 2011. He was parish priest of the churches of San Donato and San Sisto, in the heart of the historic centre of Sassari.
The sentence speaks of "crimes against the faith (schism)" and is final. The decree doesn't use the term "excommunication", which is usually associated with "schism".
According to SarDies.it, the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith gave Don Cornet the chance to defend himself, but he refused. His successor as parish priest is Don Antonino Canu.
Cornet's book of 2023 contains a series of questions about Freemasonry, the St Gallen Mafia and Benedict's resignation. He describes Francis as an illegitimate pope.
A second book, "In Search of the Lost Munus", which questions the resignation of Benedict XVI in 2013, is being published these days.
If Don Cornet had denied the Holy Trinity, or the indissolubility of Catholic marriage, or the immorality of homosexual sins, no one would have touched him.
