• In La Courneuve (45K inhabitants, 8km from central Paris) 80% of those under 18 are foreigners (1968: 22%).
• In Orléans (116K, 111km south of Paris) 47% of those under 18 are foreigners (1968: 9.5%). 37% of them are from Africa and Turkey (1968: 2%).
In Querida Amazonia, Francis asks to fight for the “original peoples” (7), accuses colonising interests of marginalising the indigenous peoples (9), and insists on recognised the rights of the original peoples (12).
“When the indigenous peoples ‘remain on their land, they themselves care for it best,” he insists (42).
