Sad to see that Lifesite News fell for the phony Fr. Rodrigue

@mccallansteve LifeSiteNews 'falls' for anything and everything these days. It seems to have toned down its pro-life/pro-marriage/pro-family stance in favour of apocalyptic style alleged 'seers' and 'visionaries' and 'messages'. It's just sensationalist clickbait.

@Strong and Steadfast That's just it. LSN didn't state the facts of the case. The bishop's 2020 condemnation was not even referred to. At least if there is to be a debate, both sides of the case should be put across. They weren't. It was just a platform for Fr Rodrigue. Also, the man Xavier who appeared on the video, promoting his book, stated that it should be left to the competent authority to …More

Also, the man Xavier who appeared on the video, promoting his book, stated that it should be left to the competent authority to judge, but conveniently omitted to mention that Bishop Gilles Lemay is the competent authority, and he has judged, and 'disallowed' Fr Rodrigue's alleged messages and prophecies (see document above).

@Strong and Steadfast I don't quite know how you reach that conclusion when the statement is headed "Subject: Disallowance of Father Michel Rodrigue's messages and prophecies" (see top left hand side). However, at the time the statement was written, Bp Gilles Lemay was Fr Rodrigue's bishop, so his public complaints against Fr Rodrigue's behaviour, and the alleged messages and prophecies, should not …More

However, at the time the statement was written, Bp Gilles Lemay was Fr Rodrigue's bishop, so his public complaints against Fr Rodrigue's behaviour, and the alleged messages and prophecies, should not be so lightly dismissed. As for LSN, if I could find the statement in 30 seconds using a cursory internet search, I can't see how they failed to know of it, or find it, with all their paid researchers at hand. However, we'll have to beg to differ on this one. I hope you had a blessed Passion Service.

Even though some might disagree with Fr. Rodrigue, it is important to remember that he is a Catholic priest and critical comments made against him above are lacking in charity in their condemnation...

@Strong and Steadfast @victimsoul Read the official declaration from the bishop above, before talking about 'lacking in charity' and 'hateful rhetoric'

@Strong and Steadfast @victimsoul Read the official declaration from the bishop above, before talking about 'lacking in charity' and 'hateful rhetoric'

As for those who promote these things – an important document was issued by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in November 1996 and placed in L'Osservatore Romano. It stated:

“Regarding the circulation of texts of alleged private revelations, the Congregation states: The interpretation given by some individuals to a decision approved by Paul VI on 14 October 1966 and promulgated on 15 November of that year, in virtue of which writings and messages resulting from alleged revelations could be freely circulated in the Church is absolutely groundless. This decision actually referred to the “Abolition of the Index of Forbidden Books” and determined that after the relevant censures were lifted, the moral obligation still remained of not circulating or reading those writings which endanger faith and morals. It should be recalled however, that with regard to the circulation of texts of alleged private revelations, Canon 823#1 of the current code remains in force: “the Pastors of the Church have the … right to demand that writings to be published by the Christian faithful which touch upon faith or morals be submitted to their judgement”. Alleged supernatural revelations and writings concerning them are submitted in first instance to the judgement of the diocesan Bishop, and in particular cases, to the judgement of the Episcopal Conference and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.”

@Strong and Steadfast No, but you addressed your comment to me - why not address it to the person who wrote those words?
