Abuse Hoax: Ten (!) Religious Become Victims of "False Memories"

A court in Prato, Italy, dismissed a complaint against ten members of the now dissolved Discepoli dell’Annunciazione, writes CorriereFiorentino.Corriere.it (December 4).

This ends a nightmare for the founder, Father Giglio Giglioli, Father Everardo De Almeida Silva, Giovanny Santa Colorado, Father Stefano Coveri, Father Matteo Veronese, Leonardo Squarcini, Leonardo Sellitri, Enrico Porru and two other lay people.

After intercepting telephone calls, listening to witnesses, and other investigations, prosecutors found that the accuser, a twenty-year-old man, was lying, and asked last April for the charges to be dropped.

The character assassination started when the accuser’s mother told a social worker about “revelations” her son had made to her, speaking of group rapes and abuses dating back to the previous ten years, when he regularly attended the Discepoli.

However, a prosecution appointed neuropsychiatrist showed that the controversial EMDR method by which the young man's “memories” had “emerged” was vitiated by the boy's psychic state and produced false memories.

Psychology studies the contents of the human psyche. It does not study--or arrive at knowledge of--history. What people say that happened might be true--but also might be a product of their fantasies.

Ik denk dat ook. in Nederland is bij de zogenaamde misbruik slachtoffers, die geld hebben gekregen van de Rooms Katholieke kerk, hetzelfde probleem aanwezig.
