“We are seeing the collapse of what is called the Roman Catholic Church, and in it, somewhere, is the Ancient Catholic Church,” Father Stephen de Kerdrel told BBC Radio Orkney (January 8).
However, he believes that the Church will re-emerge, “But it will be very different.” He sees a great battle between Western society and Christianity, “The one they really want to take a potshot at is the Catholic Church.”
De Kerdrel states that Francis has been “very ambivalent about divorce, gay marriage, goodness knows what.” And, “They get more and more preposterous.”
He sees a problem in the fact “the Catholic Church is particularly prone to idolise the papacy, I think I was like that at one time.”
However, he believes that the Church will re-emerge, “But it will be very different.” He sees a great battle between Western society and Christianity, “The one they really want to take a potshot at is the Catholic Church.”
