The woman told The Pillar that soon after it happened, she told Fr. Peter West, then Priests for Life's associate director, that Pavone had come into her room in the middle of the night. She said the priest told her, “I wish he wouldn't do things like that. He's going to get us in trouble one of these days.” There seemed to be no follow-up action, she said. West did not respond to questions before the initial publication of this report. But after it was published, West contacted The Pillar, and said he did not remember that conversation. The priest added that if he had heard an allegation of misconduct, he believes he would have urged the woman to contact Pavone's diocese.

Laicized priest Frank Pavone was accused before his laicization of sexual harassment, grooming behavior, and coercive physical contact with young women.
If all that is true, then Fr. Pavone got what he deserved. It reminds me of the case of Fr. John Corapi, the phony "conservative" priest who dressed like a monk in a grey habit and amassed a fortune from sold out lectures and books. He either quit the priesthood one day, or quit because of scandals, but anyway he disappeared. He was on EWTN all the time, and then suddenly GONE!
I agree with you, but it looks like the allegations weren’t investigated properly. It’s as though the bishop thought that it was adequate to get him for disobedience, and so it was unnecessary to delve too deeply into anything as unseemly as this. He wouldn’t be the first noted pro-life priest to be brought down by such things: there was also Fr. Eutenauer, about 10 years ago. Bishops take the …More

He wouldn’t be the first noted pro-life priest to be brought down by such things: there was also Fr. Eutenauer, about 10 years ago. Bishops take the same attitude towards priests behaving improperly in their relationships with adults as they did 50 years ago in their relating to children. They don’t want to deal with the hard work of fixing the problem, which I am almost certain would require a big step back from all of the “closeness” of the Vatican II era. Priests need to be treated as a separate class (not necessarily superior, but definitely separate), and need to carry themselves as such. They certainly should not ever be working closely with young women.
Dear Paul, You made such a wonderful comment. But, you are quite innocent as to the ways in which evil can make something appear to have happened. The faithful, effective, innocent have LOTS to fear. Truth will prevail on the Last Day..... but, it's not necessarily going to prevail now.
Satan wears many faces, outside and within the holy Church. And the one who thinks he is standing firm should be very careful not to fall (himself). So I suspect everyone and I suspect no one. But as a father of a nineteen year old daughter I’d wish justice to be done in such a case, for the accuser AND the accused. 'Cause innocence isn’t double-faced and silence isn’t always as golden as the …More

These allegations are very serious and have to be examined, this just cannot be swept under the carpet. On the one hand the presumption of innocence has to be observed, on the other hand the innocence of a young woman seems te be seriously violated. May the truth prevail. If your conscience is clear, you have nothing to fear! (Luke 12: 4-5)More
