Jesuits do take vows to the evangelical councils, but, once one becomes a bishop, he is no longer bound by vows to the evangelical councils (ordination promises still apply). Strict evangelical poverty is impossible for a bishop, as he, very often, has a great deal of wealth in his name.
@V.R.S. Without a doubt. If a priest should be allowed any sort of indulgence, perhaps an immense theological and spiritual library could be fitting. An immense collection of cd’s, with only 19 vinyl records? That’s just a form of gluttony.
