His knee again! Francis, 85, has told CNN Portugal on Monday that his doctors have forbidden him to travel to Kiev or Moscow.
He has repeatedly expressed a desire to do so and he said that he would continue those efforts, but, “after the Canada trip the knee's recovery suffered a bit.” So, Francis will not make a trip abroad before his September 13-15 visit to Kazakhstan.
Francis must have realised that his ill-considered public announcements would have entangled him in a suicide mission that would have angered both parties. But Francis, being the politician he is, pulled the emergency brake just in time.
He is also planning to go to Lisbon next summer for World Youth Day. "The Pope will go - either Francis or John XXIV - but the Pope will go," he repeated one of his old jokes.
