Prosecutors in Massa Carrara, Italy, have started an investigation against Father Luca Morini for "unlawful use of money of the diocese" and "attempted scam". They have seized 700,000 euros in cash, 150,000 euros in precious stones and stocks and shares from the priest.
Morini used the money for a gay double life. A jealous male prostitute who originally considered the priest to be a wealthy magistrate, filmed gay feasts as well as gifts and love letters he had received from Morini and sent this to a TV station. Morini was known in his parish as "Father Euro" because of the insistence with which he used to ask the faithful for money.
Also under investigation is Bishop Giovanni Santucci of Massa Carrara for having exercised undue pressure on a Catholic insurance company to increase the priest's disability score.
