SUSPECTED of Praying: Englishwoman Arrested

The UK regime has arrested pro-lifer Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, the director of the UK March for Life who for many years has supported pregnant mothers in difficulties.

Vaughan-Spruce was standing several times on a public street near an abortion clinic in Birmingham which was closed. She carried no sign and was completely silent until approached by police who were called by a bystander who suspected Vaughan-Spruce.

She was shown photos taken from her at that location and asked whether she had been praying while the photos were taken. Vaughan-Spruce was not able to answer the question as she had been distracted several times, for instance, by thoughts about her lunch.

Talking to Adf.uk (December 20), she called it "abhorrently wrong" that she was "searched," "arrested," "interrogated by police" and "charged for praying in the privacy of my own mind.”

As part of her bail conditions, Vaughan-Spruce was told that she should not contact a local Catholic priest who was also involved in pro-life work – a condition that was later dropped.
