Fort Worth Bishop Michael Olson argued on June 27 in a Texas courtroom that a civil court has no jurisdiction over the lawsuit filed by Arlington Carmelite nuns, PillarCatholic.com reports.
In her $1M lawsuit, Mother Teresa Agnes Gerlach, 43, says that Olson defamed her, invaded her privacy, and stole information from electronic devices.
Olson's lawyer played a 30-minute tape of his April deposition of Mother Teresa. She admitted to having an inappropriate relationship with a Raleigh priest insisting that it was not in person but by phone or video chat.
She blamed her health problems, having been heavily medicated since late 2022 with a confused brain, "I would never do anything like that. I'm a nun, and … then you fall", she said.
Olson responded on the April tape that then she “shouldn't be the prioress.” He dismissed the prioress from religious life on June 1 after Francis appointed him superior of the monastery.
The issue of marijuana use at the convent also came up.

Michael Olson is an admitted homosexual, ordained in violation of the Church's longstanding ban on said ordinations. As such he should be dismissed from the clerical state.

You state "admitted" homosexual. Is there a source I can check?
GaryLockhart
Videotaped sworn deposition testimony from Diane Cluley who has known Olson since his days as a seminarian posted at Church Militant.

Thank you GaryLockhart. I watched the video and it supports my initial gut reaction; bishop Michael Olson should be put on a never ending sabitical of prayer and sacrifice.

Why is this even in the public eye? The Mother Superior got too chummy with a priest. A very understandable human mistake given how sick she is. Nothing physical happened. I for one did not like the attitude of the bishop when he was questioning her; all sickly sweet and condesending; treating her like a child. Yes, she should step down and yes, she should never contact the priest again. But it was an error of judgement, no more, and occured when she was sick and most likely afraid. As for the drugs - what kind of drugs are they? Alleviation of pain? I'm sure the truth of it will come out. Meanwhile, we should not be thinking the worse.

How bad can the sin be over the phone?

Just read that the nun and priest were "sexting." They both sound like troubled souls. And what kind of wimp is the priest? Get laicized, find a gal, get married, and be a man.

I pray for her. It is the first duty of any prior or prioress to resign if they are no longer capable of performing the duties of a prior or prioress. The bishop may well have overstepped certain boundaries but that is a separate issue from her own shortcomings which, apparently, needed some intervention since she has shown herself to be incapable of correcting herself.

I believe the nun, not the bishop, or by extension, Francis. When someone is under sedatives, or pain killers for serious injury or illness, they can say and do anything.

Eleven years ago, when I was in high school, I had a motorcycle. I was proud of myself that after practicing, I could ride just using the rear wheel, do jumps, tricks, etc. Then I had a huge accident when a friend of mine and myself were racing on a unfinished stretch of highway near Lancaster, Pa. I swerved on the road too fast to avoid some broken glass and was thrown off my bike. I broke my right arm, collar bone, and leg. My friend used his cell to call the ambulance, but because we were on the remote, unfished highway, it took twice as long for them to arrive. I had to have an operation to set my broken bones, and still have a big scar on my right arm and leg to remind me of my stupidity. Fortunately, I don't have any pain anymore, but I did for 2-3 years after. Rehab, and working out in the gym saved me. If I had just sat at home feeling sorry, I would probably have to use a cane permanently.
But the point is, I was doped up in the hospital so much, and at home for months. IN the hospital, I was always thinking it was Sunday when it was really Tuesday or some other day, or that it was Christmastime when it was really in April. Back at home in a hospital bed in our den, I was always asking my Mom, when are we eating dinner.......when we had already had it 2-3 hours before. I didn't remember.
So I can sympathize with this nun. She might not have known who she was, or what she was doing/saying she was so drugged.
But of course, bishop fat boy Olson....and of course Francis immediatly believe the worst, and have defamed and threatened this nun, ruining her reputation. Their goal, I would not be surprised...is to close the monastery, sell it, and reap the financial rewards of the sale.....maybe to pay off lawsuits resulting from pedophile Vatican II era priests.
Personally, I would never side with anything a known liberal bishops said or did, or Francis taking his side, because I know neither are Catholic.
I hope the Mother Superior wins her lawsuit, even if she loses her position, because in the end it was slander and defamation of character, which is more important to redeem than a position.

As an aside, don't look now, but Pope Francis may be in his very last days. I watched his St.Peter & Paul Mass from the Vatican this AM. He looked terrible, short of breath, sunken eyes and face, and some Monsignor of some kind was always whispering to him, asking I'm sure if he was alright. When he gave his Angelus blessing from the window, twice he looked like he felt sick and was about to pass out...or fall out the window😂
