Career: Francis Pushes Cardinal Tagle

Francis made Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle a Cardinal bishop on May 1.

Cardinal bishops are the senior order of cardinals. Francis has expanded their number.

The Dean of the College of Cardinals, is elected from the cardinal-bishops and by them. He presides a conclave if he is not over 80. Since very many cardinal bishops are over 80, the chances are real that Tagle could be slated for this job.

Francis recently made him the Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of the Peoples. When Tagle took over his job, his first words were, "Good day to you all! My name is Luis Antonio Tagle. Many call me Chito, from Luisito.”

Tagle is known for his predilection to sob in public.
