Gänswein Is Coming: Cardinal is “Perplexed”

The Spanish University Foundation will inaugurate the Joseph Ratzinger Lecture Hall on October 18.

The event will be attended by Madrid Nuncio Bernardito Auza, Cardinal Rouco, and Archbishop Gänswein.

Anti-Catholic groups supporting Francis have launched a polemic because of Gänswein's presence.

And the University Foundation was foolish enough to deny that by inviting Gänswein it wanted to hold an “anti-Francis event”.

ElConfidencialDigital.com (October 12) writes that Madrid’s Francis Cardinal Cobo "is perplexed" that two bishops are taking part in an event where Gänswein will appear (sic).

The Francis group hates anything that reminds them of the old regime.

Kenjiro, you don't think he was forced out?

@Vincent Capuano "Cardinals" historically wear "Red shoes" to indicate their willingness to face Martyrdom rather than be removed from office. Bergoglio has an aversion to wearing the Red shoes with his white Cassock, which indicates he has no intention to be martyred defending the Church.

@Vincent Capuano -Yes, I do think he was forced out. But he didn't have to been forced. He could have stood firm and not resigned. Had he been less of a noble gentleman (like many said he was), and more "God's Rottweiler" that some labeled him as CDF Prefect, he could have sacked all those that gave him trouble during his pontificate ( they were all close to retirement anyway). Bergoglio was 76 when …More

Bergoglio was 76 when elected. Had Benedict XVI stayed in 4 more years, Bergoglio would have been unable to vote/be elected. I wish that had been the case.

I wish Benedict XVI had never resigned. It's the one negative I ever thought of him. Had he stayed in office till he died, he would have reigned for almost 18 years (one of the longest Papal reigns), been the oldest ever reigning Pope, and probably would have done many great things until severe decline incapacitated him. He could still have written and governed as Pope. And he could have "presided …More
