Francis has appointed Brother Antonio Luca Fallica, 63, hitherto prior of Dumenza Monastery, Italy, near the Swiss border, as Abbot of the famous Montecassino Monastery.
Highly unusual: Fallica is not a priest.
Last autumn, Francis rejected Father Mauritius Wilde, 56, who the monks of Montecassino had elected as their abbot. The Vatican gave some excuses, e.g. that Wilde was not an Italian.

St. Benedict wasn't a priest either. However, since this comes from Francis, I can't imagine it is a good idea.

I just watched Bergoglio's address to the Diolomatic Corp of the Vatican. UNfortunatly, he can walk now...with difficulty. But what shocked me, was that when he made his entrance and walked down the aisle to his throne, NOT ONE
