Why the SSPX Has No Time for +Vigano
iwirawan
Looking at what Abp Lefebvre said to Cdl Ratzinger in 1987, do you think there is any chance that he could speak the same tone to Bergoglio? I very much doubt it. My guess is he is rather disappointed to the current SSPX position.

This assessment is not correct. 1. Vigano is welcome in any SSPX house. Most SSPX value what he does. 2. However you have to understand several things - A . Where was he when we needed him? He was in bed with the enemy. B. To expect that we should trust someone automatically just because he comes out of that bed would not be prudent. C. There is a lot that Vigano has left unexplained. D. The SSPX has always rejected the Sedevacantist position that Vigano is preaching, hence we can rightly understand the caution.

His is not really the Sedevacantist position. He does not deny the validity of the Pope's after 1958, only that of Bergoglio. This is the position that many of us trads hold: that Benedict's resignation and the subsequent conclave were invalid; thus the seat has been vacant since 12/31/2022 the day of BXVI's death, and we are in a period of interregnum. It is not without precedent.

Hello Tony-
I’m not sure that Vigano holds a sedevacantist position. He has denied it publicly, and declared that only the Church has the authority to declare the see vacant. Nevertheless, he simultaneously rejects the legitimacy of Francis’s pontificate (something preconciliar theologians and canonists exempt from the charge of schism if the result of questions pertaining to doubts arising from election irregularities. So he seems to have an opinion in limbo, whereby he does not accept the legitimacy of Francis, even as he recognizes only the church can declare the Holy See vacant.

This is so sad to hear... it is correct, Vigano is the only Bishop telling everyone what we see... the emperor has no clothes, by his fruits Francis has shown to be a false prophet, therefore he cant be a true pope. The Church, the real church is being under persecution and people celebrate such... so disheartening.

I attend an SSPX chapel and I pray you are incorrect, but I fear you are not.

As I said in this article (last sentence before conclusion):
“In 2020, the SSPX at large may actually side with Francis against Vigano.”
In 2024, this has become perfectly clear.
