Spain: Strange Resignation of 52-Year-Old Bishop

Francis accepted on August 23 the resignation Solsona Bishop Xavier Novell Gomà, 52.

When he was appointed in November 2010, he was at 41 the youngest bishop in Spain. In May 2017, Gomà pronounced the truism that “homosexuality can be related to an absent father.” After this, he needed police protection against homosexual haters. He further said that abortion is a genocide comparable to the holocaust.

Some [anti-Catholic] municipal councils in his diocese rejected his visit. Gomà favoures Catalonia's independence.

A media statement said that he "freely" presented his resignation “for strictly personal reasons.” After “a period of reflection, discernment and prayer,” he presented “spontaneously” to Francis “his own situation and his resignation.”

So sad to see Spain have a strong priests and the LGBT BULLY, they are the ones that want 'inclusion'...and they are the first to throw anyone that has a different opinon under the bus!!

The Church will always be a safe have for Catholics. Secularists have been dictating Church policy in one form or another for quite some time and -still- The Church remains The Church.

no seems like he just got bullied, we had a priest here in Canada that stood up against the backlash of, residential schools. He said that there was some good in the residential schools. The church was vandalized and the priest was bullied, he finnaly resigned..our Bishop Cardinal should of stood up for him.. The church was vandalized and the priest was bullied, he finnaly resigned..our Bishop Cardinal should of stood up for him.. He is right, good intentions were in the residential schools, but the Government threw the Catholic priests under the bus. The government lacked to provide the necessary funding for residential schools...and then there was supposed 'mass graves' which Trudeau participated in and 50 churches in Canada were burned!

Sad that he has resigned 23 years early. Anti-Catholic groups will feel empowered knowing that they can force resignations if they object loudly enough.
